Tx:Team Company Culture

Tx:Team prides itself on the culture displayed at every level of the company’s infrastructure. Culture has been and will continue to be the driving force behind creating an environment that allows for success over the course of four decades. “From my standpoint, it’s about creating collegiality,” said Scott Benedict, CEO of Tx:Team. “It’s about creating an environment where people truly enjoy doing what they’re doing.”

In a recent release of Work Wellbeing data from Indeed, Tx:Team scored 84/100. one of the higher rankings among the top therapy providers. Data was driven by surveys on key topics such as Work/Life Balance, Compensation/Benefits, Job Security/Advancement, Management, and Culture.

“My first job was in a very large corporate environment, and it was somewhat cutthroat,” said Benedict. “It was competitive. And it was very ‘me centric me first.’ You just didn’t have that feeling that we were all pushing or pulling in the same direction and trying to accomplish a shared vision and a shared goal.”

While culture is emphasized in a variety of businesses, it’s naturally more tangible in the health care sector.  “We’re in the people business,” said Carroll Nelligan, COO of Tx:Team. “Culture is everything. It’s the foundation of what we believe in and it’s those beliefs in action. It’s something that’s embodied every day by all of our people and how we deliver the best therapy product possible.”

Tx:Team’s core values include integrity, camaraderie, vision, responsiveness, resilience, teamwork, flexibility, and continuous learning. These values are consistently referred to as the guiding principals behind day-to-day decisions. “You have to be able to look at our values, which are up on the wall, and say, ‘yes, I can see those being lived out every day,’” said Benedict.

“All of our values are really important, but I believe that teamwork is our most important and it’s in our name,” said Nelligan. “I came from a background that looked at people’s unique perspectives as disciplines, OT, PT and speech, and how we could work together to have our own unique perspective on how patients achieve their goals. Teamwork is everything to our company.”

Understanding the impact of company culture is paramount to the success of the company, the well-being of our employees, and a key component of Tx:Team that won’t change.

Sam Benedict is a Tx:Team Intern from Wabash College. Going into his junior year, he holds executive positions in his fraternity, is the Editor in-Chief of the college newspaper, The Bachelor, and is both a Class Representative within the student senate and the chairman of the campus Student Events Committee. After college, Sam plans to either pursue law school or a career in business.

Tx:Team Has a New Look

After 38 years in business, Tx:Team has a new look.

Our rebrand kicks off the next chapter of Tx:Team’s story. Our new brand symbolizes revitalized energy and excitement about where we are going – it is modern, fresh, and relevant. We are building momentum and continuing to forge ahead as a fiercely independent, privately held, therapist-led organization.

In July 2021, founder Greg Jennings transitioned majority ownership of Tx:Team to his longtime executive leadership team, who will guide the company through its next 40 years. Tx:Team was built on a solid foundation focused exclusively on providing high-quality therapy services. This remains the core of who we are, even as we adapt and change to meet the needs of all we serve. No matter what happens in the healthcare industry, we find ways to differentiate ourselves and deliver innovative rehabilitation solutions.

When we were founded in 1983, our clients were primarily skilled nursing facilities. Since then, we have transitioned to working with hospital systems, senior living communities, and employer-based clinics.  As we evolve, so too does our brand.  We are now recognizable as Tx:Team, a national provider of physical, occupational, and speech therapy services operating in multiple states. We help our patients lead happier, healthier, and more active lives, which in turn, benefits the organizations we serve. We pride ourselves on being authentic and transparent.  We deliver customized therapy programs on behalf of our clients, and our nationally recognized outcomes speak for themselves.

Satisfaction doesn’t stop with our patients and partners; it extends to our associates as well. We believe that therapy is fundamentally a human-to-human interaction, and we hire people who are excellent at healing. Tx:Team was founded by a therapist and is still operated by therapists.  We know how our therapists feel because we have walked in their shoes. Throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are proud to say we have not furloughed staff or eliminated positions, but instead, have found ways to keep our workforce intact and to continue providing exceptional patient care. We value our people because Tx:Team is our people.

As we move forward with this new phase of Tx:Team, rest assured that we are still focused on providing the best in physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Tx:Team’s mission has always been to give everyone the best possible care, and that is never going to change. It is not just a mission statement up on the wall, it is the core of who we are. Working with us is good therapy.

Operate Out of Love

Carroll Nelligan, President, Chief Operating Officer

My heart is hurting today as I know is the case with all of you.  This is not a political post.  There are plenty of avenues for that.  We have been faced with many months of challenges and we are all fatigued in different ways.

I am writing about what I know to be true.

Operate out of love.

You are healers.  It is your destiny to bring that into the world.   What I kept thinking about over the weekend is that we are all aligned in that.  We are wired to care, to nurture, to help, to love.  We don’t see our patients through a lens of what color their skin is, their political views, or their income.

When I worked in urban Philadelphia, we treated the worst of the traumatic brain injury cases.  The Philly cop that was shot during a terrible robbery, the Hasidic Jew who was in the school bus bombing, the young boy from the Manayunk projects who had been shot on a corner drug deal, none of it mattered who they were but how we could help them become human beings again.  The love for our patients and the ability to change lives is what drove us.

In so many ways we have all been pushed to a limit.  We have been stripped down to our basic selves and have nowhere to hide, to safely tuck away, to self-care.  You have an opportunity through your work to bring your best selves into the world each day.  To spread love and compassion and to raise the energy of the world we live in.  We have choices to operate out of fear or operate out of love.

I am so proud of the way that we have responded during the pandemic.  We are strong, we are resilient.  Those are not just words on a wall.  We have seen this in action. So many stories of those who redefined what it means to be essential.  It brought tears of appreciation to my eyes.   These are very challenging times.  When one wave hits us, another seems to be waiting in the ocean to pummel us again.  We can breathe.  We can survive. And, we can thrive.

When hearts are hurting like this, focus on the lovely human you are treating in front of you.  Your full and undivided presence and attention to your patients, to your teammates, and to your community is what is needed right now.  We need you on the ground following a moral compass that points in the right direction regardless of what the world is doing wrong.  We need leaders who continue to search for the best answer, not the familiar one.

We are transforming as a nation, as a world, as a human race.  Thank you for all you do as healers in a world that needs so much healing right now.
